Terms of Use

These terms apply when you use Felix, the AskFelix home repair assistant at askfelix.diy, including a Felix you reach through a pro's card. By using Felix, you agree to them. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information. Pros who have a Felix card also agree to the Felix Pro Terms.
The short version
- Felix's plans are AI-generated guidance, not professional advice. Costs and times are estimates.
- You decide whether to do a repair, and you do it at your own risk. Stop if anything seems unsafe.
- Felix won't walk you through gas, electrical panel, structural or permit work. Call a licensed pro.
- Pros on Felix run their own businesses. We don't vet or guarantee them or their work.
1. What Felix is
Felix uses AI to look at the photos and descriptions you give it, identify what you're working on, and suggest a plan: tools, parts, steps and rough costs. It's built to help you understand a repair and decide whether to do it yourself. It is not a licensed contractor, electrician, plumber or inspector, and it can't see everything a person standing in your home would.
Felix can be wrong. It may misidentify a part or a problem, miss a hazard, or suggest a step that doesn't fit your home. Cost, time and savings figures are estimates, not quotes.
2. Your safety is your call
You decide whether to start a repair, and you're responsible for doing it safely. Before you start, and as you go:
- Turn off power, water or gas to what you're working on, and confirm it's off.
- Follow the manufacturer's instructions, your local building codes, and any permit rules. Where they differ from Felix, they win.
- Use proper safety gear, and stop if anything looks, smells or sounds wrong.
- If you're unsure, stop and call a qualified professional.
Felix won't guide you through gas lines, electrical panels or 240V circuits, structural or load-bearing work, roofs and chimneys, or work that needs a permit. It may let you continue some other jobs it has flagged with a caution; if you do, that's your decision.
3. Pros you find through Felix
Felix can connect you with local pros: through a pro's own Felix card, or through Find a pro. Those pros are independent businesses, not employees or agents of AskFelix. A pro's license, insurance and other details are what they tell us; we don't verify them. Any work, price or agreement is between you and the pro. Check their credentials, get a written quote, and agree the details with them directly.

4. Shopping links and videos
Felix may link to products on Amazon and to repair videos on YouTube. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases; it doesn't change what you pay. We don't control those sites, their products or their content, and their own terms apply.
5. Using Felix fairly
Please don't misuse Felix: no unlawful, harmful or abusive content, no photos of other people or their homes without permission, no attempts to break, overload or copy the service, and no automated scraping. We may limit or stop access for anyone who does.
6. The beta, and our responsibility
Felix is in beta and provided as is, without warranties of any kind. It may change, have interruptions, or occasionally get things wrong. As far as the law allows, AskFelix isn't responsible for injury, property damage, or losses that result from doing a repair, from relying on Felix's information, or from your dealings with a pro. Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not all apply to you.
7. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as Felix grows. We'll change the date at the top, and for significant changes we'll show a notice in Felix. If you keep using Felix after that, the new terms apply.
